Revenue Cup · Design
4-week challenge structure
Each week builds on the last. Power BI is introduced in week 3 — after ideas are formed and motivation is high, not before.
Week 1
Anchor your idea to live work
No data required. No analysis required. Just name the work anchor.
Work anchor: Every team must name a live client engagement, active project, or real business situation they're already working on. The idea must connect to it. This single constraint prevents abstract thinking and ensures every idea is immediately evaluable.
Mon
Leadership kickoff
Senior sponsor launches the Revenue Cup. Names the incubation prize. Signals this is real, not symbolic.

Wed
Work anchor nomination
Each team submits their work anchor — the live engagement their idea connects to. One sentence. No idea yet required.

Fri
First idea submission
Teams submit a rough idea connected to their anchor. No data required. Scoreboard goes live with participation shown — not scores yet.
All teams
Design principle: the work anchor is the most important design decision in week 1. It removes the biggest barrier to participation — "I don't know what to submit" — by giving teams something concrete to connect to before they've developed an idea.
Week 2
Scoreboard goes live — effort becomes visible
Peer voting opens. Teams see where they stand. The competition begins.
Mon
Scoreboard published with initial scores
All submitted ideas appear on the live scoreboard. Initial scores based on work anchor quality and idea clarity — not data yet.

Tue–Thu
Peer voting open
All participants can vote on ideas from other teams. Votes contribute to the Revenue Potential and Customer Impact scores. Maximum 3 votes per person.

Fri
Mid-point nudge
Teams not yet on the scoreboard receive a one-line re-engagement message: "Scores update Friday — it's not too late to submit." No chase, no pressure.
Facilitator
Design principle: making effort visible through the scoreboard is the motivation mechanism. Teams don't compete for the prize in week 2 — they compete for visibility. That's enough to re-engage dormant teams without a direct chase.
Week 3
Power BI job aid released — data strengthens ideas
The tool arrives when motivation is highest and the task is clear.
Mon
Power BI job aid released
A single one-page guide: three Power BI views that turn client data into a revenue argument. Available on demand — not pushed in week 1 when no one has a question yet.
All teams
Wed
Optional Power BI office hours
30-minute drop-in session. Teams can bring their idea and get help finding the right data view. Not mandatory — removes the barrier without creating an obligation.
Data teamOptional
Fri
Updated submission with data
Teams resubmit their idea with at least one data point from Power BI. Scores update on the scoreboard. Innovation Index and Future Readiness scores now visible.
All teams
Design principle: Power BI is introduced in week 3 — not week 1. By now teams have an idea worth supporting with data. The job aid takes 8 minutes to read. The office hours are optional. The skill gap closes at the exact moment it needs to.
Week 4
Pitch day — winner enters incubation
The programme ends with real stakes and a real outcome.
Mon–Wed
Final submissions locked
Scoreboard freezes. Top 3 teams confirmed. Pitch preparation time — facilitator available for coaching sessions on request.

Thu
Pitch day — top 3 present to leadership
Each team presents their idea in 8 minutes to the senior leadership panel. Q&A follows. Winner announced same day.

Fri
Winner enters incubation programme
Winning team receives 6 weeks of structured coaching to develop their idea into a business case. Named incubation support — not a trophy.
Winning teamIncubation lead
Design principle: the prize is incubation, not recognition. A real pathway from idea to business case is what makes the Revenue Cup worth four weeks of effort. Without this, the challenge is an event. With it, it's a system.
